So where are we going on our Round the World Trip?
I wish I was exaggerating when I said that our list of places to go changes weekly, but I’m not. I read a book or an article or see a picture; another place goes on the list.
Lots of things influence our list. Here are a few factors that I work in:
- This is a marathon, not a sprint. It can’t be a 2 week whirlwind tour through Europe. First, that kind of pace isn’t sustainable for 2+ years with kids. Second, getting to experience the world and destinations is part of the fun. A day here and day there doesn’t really cut it.
- It must be reasonable in terms of cost. If it costs hundreds of dollars a day per person to go there, it isn’t making the cut.
- There must be something to do that is either fun or educational. I love to look at great scenery, but I want to be active. Scenery isn’t a huge draw for 9-12 year old boys.
- I must be able to fit it in to our schedule so we are not in that location during winter. I want to avoid winter for 2+ years. Keep in mind, that being from Florida, spring and fall in many of these locations will feel like winter to us!
Without further delay, here is the plan as of 2016.
