Packing for a European Cruise in Winter

 In Packing

All our Luggage from our European Cruise

All the luggage from our European Cruise

I always want to be one of those people who is packed up and ready days before we need to leave for any trip. I make lists and mentally plan what clothes we need. But we never are ready until a few hours before we need to leave our house, at best. This time, we were traveling to Europe and packing for a European cruise in winter, and I didn’t want to be bogged down by extra luggage for a few reasons.

  • When we got to Barcelona, I knew we were taking public transport and then walking to the hotel. That meant that Keith and I needed to have a hand free to deal with the kids.
  • We were going to be moving around a lot with the luggage: To Barcelona, to the cruise ship, off the cruise ship, and back to Miami.
  • We were taking our Mini-van to the Airport. This meant 5 adults, 2 kids and all our luggage needed to fit in our Toyota Sienna.

In light of this, the apart-hotel that I booked in Barcelona had a washing machine.

So for 10 days in Europe, this is what I packed (including what was worn on the plane):

How did it work out? Were there things you should have brought? Could you cut down more?

It actually worked out really well. I probably could have down without flip-flops, but they are a kinda of creature comfort for me. They are also pretty small and light to pack. We also all could have gotten by with one less pair of pants. But for the boys, the extra pants were more of an insurance policy.
